Some years ago my job was technical in nature. I worked for an airline and even then loved the lines of aircraft, especially the shape of the wings of Concorde. Mathematically defined, but pure art in shape. To leave a runway on a wet, drab day and then to climb through the grey skies into the permanent sunshine and blue sky always seemed to me to be a dynamic work of art in itself - a juxtaposition which is gradually influencing my work, although I enjoy simple, peaceful subjects, too.
My drawing is mainly in pencil, but I do some work in sanguine, pastels or charcoal and, as you can see, most of my work is in the form of portraits.
The sculpting is in terracotta or in stone, mainly life portraits, but I also enjoy abstract work, too.
In July 2009 I spent 10 days stone carving Breakout in an international symposium at Vejprty in the Czech Republic - see the results in "Sculptures". The finished work will be on display in the grounds of one of the leading Czech orthopaedic clinics.
I hope you like my work - please feel free to contact me.
